Manarah is operated by Northstar Engineering Ltd. By using the app you agree to what follows. It is short on purpose.
What the service is
Manarah listens, while you have started a session, to a talk being delivered near your phone, and shows you a machine transcription and translation of it as it is spoken. It is a comprehension aid. It is not an interpreter, not a transcript of record, and not a substitute for understanding the language yourself.
Accuracy, and what you must not rely on it for
The translation is produced by machine from live speech in a room, and it will sometimes be wrong. Text the app is unsure of is shown faintly so that a confident reading is always distinguishable from a doubtful one. Do not quote Manarah's output as a record of what a speaker said, and do not rely on it where being wrong would matter.
When Manarah recognises recited Qur'an it shows an established scholarly translation and names it, rather than machine-translating it. When it is not certain the words were Qur'an, it shows no translation at all. This is deliberate: in this subject matter a confident wrong answer is the harm.
Subscriptions
- Your first khutbah each calendar month is free, with no subscription.
- Manarah Plus is an auto-renewing subscription, offered monthly and yearly. The price is shown in the app before you buy and is charged by the App Store or Google Play in your local currency.
- It renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- Manage or cancel in your store account settings. We cannot cancel a subscription for you, and we never see your card.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies, not by us.
Acceptable use
Use Manarah where recording is permitted, and follow the rules of the place you are in and the law where you are. Some countries restrict recording other people's speech. You are responsible for that; the app cannot know where it is or what is allowed there.
Your content
Transcripts belong to you. They are stored on your phone, and on our server only for as long as Privacy describes. If you share one, you are publishing it; you can revoke that page at any time.
No warranty, and the limit of our liability
The service is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, Northstar Engineering Ltd is not liable for any loss arising from use of the app or from errors in its output, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Changes and ending
If these terms change materially, the date above changes and the app will say so. You may stop using Manarah at any time; deleting your data takes a few taps.
